10 of the most breathtaking nature photos

The photos are taken by both amateur and professional photographers from around the world

National Geographic’s 2014 Photo Contest is under way giving us once again the chance to see some of the most beautiful pictures of people and the world around them.

As Huffington post reports, the contest has already drawn more than 1,500 entries, from amazing wildlife shots to mesmerizing landscapes.

The photos are taken by both amateur and professional photographers from around the world and all entries can be viewed on National Geographic’s website annual photo seminar. The contest will end on October 31, so if you feel lucky, you can try on.

National Geographic judges will award prizes in three categories: people, places and nature. One winner, though, will get the big prize of $10,000 and win a trip to the National Geographic headquarters for their annual photography seminar.
