2014 Naxathlon Triathlon set to start

Hundreds of Athletes are heading to the beautiful Aegean island of Naxos for the love of sport, and not just for the sea and sun

The 7th annual Naxathlon Triathlon is taking part in Chora on the isle of Naxos on August 30 at 4 p.m.

The annual sporting event just keeps growing and has managed to attract triathletes from around the world. The start and finish of the event is at the base of the island’s 2,500-year-old ancient landmark, Portara – a marble doorway at the unfinished Temple of Apollo that leads to nowhere.

Over 100 Greek athletes are taking part in the Naxathlon this year, including several who are internationally acclaimed in Ironman championships, swimming competitions, Olympic Games and more.

There’s still time to register until August 28.

Technical Specifications
Swimming: Open water swimming 1.5 km
Cycling: 40 km. asphalt path from Chora to the village of Filoti and back
Running: 10 km, circular route within Chora, Naxos

1) Individual Men ages: 18-30
2) Individual Men ages: 31-44
3) Individual Men ages: 45 and older
4) Individual Women ages: 18 and over
5) Team

Registration requirements
Must be 18 years of age and have a recent medical certificate.

The organizers will cover 50% of the by-sea transportation costs of the athletes coming from the ports of Piraeus, Rafina, and Irakleio, Crete.

Naxathlon Schedule of Competition – Saturday 30/08/2014
1.30-3.30 p.m. – Registration, Chora Naxos, Restaurant Relax
3.30-4.30 p.m. – Competition guidelines, rules and technical advice on the conduct of the race, onsite
4 p.m. – Start of Triathlon
7 p.m. – Awards Ceremony
8 p.m. – Dinner at the restaurant Relax, Chora, Naxos (Free for participants)
