Right in the heart of Athens, between Syntagma Square and the Kallimarmaro Stadium, stands the famous National Garden of Athens.
Formerly known as the Royal Garden, it is a beautiful area to escape from the noisy and crowded city and relax in a lush green environment.
It is like a tropical paradise where visitors can spend hours wandering around the shaded pathways, passing by the flowers and trees. It is the home of more than 500 different species of plants, trees, birds and animals.
National Garden hosts the Botanical Museum, a zoo, a pond, a playground, a children’s library, a traditional café and scattered ancient monuments and statues.
The famous writer Henry Miller wrote once for the National Garden of Athens, that “It remains in my memory like no other park I have known”.
