If you couldn’t make it to the protest / occupation in central Athens earlier this month, fear not, it was captured on video by militant protesters, set to music and posted on the Internet!
On Monday a 10-minute video, complete with soundtrack, was posted on a website known as a “hub” for anti-state, anti-establishment and anarchist material — mostly domestic — showing rioters throwing rocks, spraying … fire extinguishers and hitting riot cops’ shields with clubs.
The title of the almost “Cinéma vérité ” style footage is entitled “Trapped occupiers by MAT (the riot police) force protesters to attack”.
The attack by the mostly black-clad and gas mask-wearing people took place on April 16 in central Athens outside the University of Athens’ main administration building (Propylea). A dozen or so of their comrades had occupied the premises.
The video shows the pro-active protesters rushing at the body-armour-protected police, then, in a change of roles, police rushing them.
Could a cable TV reality show be next?
