Arsonists attack the home of Alekos Flambouraris, and he blames media!

Flambouraris says he is the victim of a “terrorist” attack.

An arson attack was noted shortly after midnight at the home of controversial State Minister Alekos Flambouraris at Voulgaroktonou Street, Exarchia. The minister, embroiled in a number of scandals since the Radical Left Coalition (SYRIZA) government took power, called the fire brigade and police after eye witness accounts stated that youths passed by his home and threw liquid, possibly benzene towards the wooden entrance of his house, setting it alight.

The fire was immediately put out after the fire brigade rushed to the area. The damage was small and human lives were not put in danger.

Flambouraris and his family were not at home at the time of the attack, and the police are currently investigating the crime while looking at CCTV footage placed at various areas of the street.

Flambouraris: A terrorist attack at my house

In his statement to the Athens News Agency, Flambouraris labeled the arson attack as a “terrorist” attack. He said that it was the work of anti-state factions.

“The mud-slinging sycophantic attack of lies that began by involved electronic and written mass media, in collaboration with anti-state political factions, had its first ‘success’. Last night, there was a ‘terrorist’ attack at my house, where there was an attempt to burn it with a can of benzene and fire,” he said. “My choice of keeping a low-key stand against the attack has reached its limits.” He accused deputies of working with the media in a sinister co-ordinated attack against him to serve their “insidious interests”.

“They leave me no alternative but to turn to Greek justice so as to end this sycophantic campaign!”
