Athens-Thessaloniki EXPRESS train to launch on May 20

The new line will cut time from 5 hours to under 4 hours

The first EXPRESS train is expected to be launched in the Athens-Thessaloniki line on Monday, May 20.
The new route will allow passengers to reach their destinations in three hours and 55 minutes, as the Transport and Infrastructures General Secretary Thanos Bourdos said.

As he explained, the new electric trains fast trains are now included in the daily TRAINOSE routes and two stations in Lianokladi and Larissa will provide passengers a fast trip to Thessaloniki in only 3 hours and 55 minutes from the 5 hours it currently takes today.

The routes will be initially run by three TRAINOSE trains coaches overhauled by EASTY and will include all amenities for a comfortable and relaxing trip and even WiFi.
Soon, two ultra-modern trains are expected to arrive from Italy, similar to the “Silver Arrow” that had been tested in the Thessaloniki International Fair (TIF’s) inauguration last year.

The Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, Christos Spirtzis, is expected to present the new 450-km-long railway line Athens-Thessaloniki next Wednesday.
