Australia: Severe penalties for those who oblige their children to wear burqa

Australian MP proposed one year’s imprisonment and a bitter fine for parents who oblige their children to wear a full body mantle

Following the stir caused in Australia about the Parliaments plan to create bulletproof glass protective covers, an Australian MP proposes heavy penalties and fines to parents that oblige their children to wear burqa.

According to the MP, parents that oblige their daughters to wear a full body mantle, must receive one year’s imprisonment and a 68.000 Australian dollar fine.

Further, those oblige their children to cover their faces should also receive six months imprisonment and a 34.000 Australian dollar fine.

While speaking to the newspaper Herald Sun, the MP stated that: “”The procedure is very simple and similar to the one of fines for traffic violations”.
However, she noted that there will be some exceptions such as in cases involving people visiting mosques or located in private residences.
