The Zafiro experience is a new interactive tour where visitors are able to try their hand at various traditional Greek activities such as weaving, plate smashing or even cooking. Rather than travel around Greece , visitors travel through time and tradition to experience Greece as it once was and still lies at the very heart of Greeks. To this effect, a special area at Attiko Alsos Park has been outfitted with a horizontal loom, a preindustrial watermill and a wood oven ready to welcome guests.
The organizers of this tour promise guests that they will “feel the warmth of Greek hospitality, taste authentic Mediterranean cuisine, learn the art of making delicacies, travel to the world of bread-making from seed to freshly-baked scent, admire the ancient art of weaving, a creation of goddess Athena herself, view history through the production of flour using a preindustrial watermill. Then onto the festivities, watching skilled dancers and learning traditional steps under the watchful eye of experienced dance instructors.”
A day’s worth of toil and hard work at the mill is followed by plate-smashing and “Opa!” cheering! To this effect the most talented traditional dancers of the famed Dora Stratou dance troupe have been invited to perform and interact with visitors to the Zafiro Experience that gives visitors the chance to be Greek for a day.
The Zafiro Experience takes place at Attiko Alsos Area B, Galatsi. For more information call 210 693-0586
