Bill Cosby to stand trial for sexual assault charges

If convicted, he faces up to 10 years in prison

A Pennsylvania judge ruled Tuesday there was enough evidence to proceed to trial in the first criminal sexual-assault case against comedian Bill Cosby.

Mr. Cosby faces three felony charges of aggravated indecent assault from a 2004 case involving Andrea Constand, a former Temple University employee. She was the first of more than 50 women who have accused the comedian of sexual misconduct.

Mrs. Constand alleged that Mr. Cosby drugged and assaulted her after he invited her to his home in January 2004. Mr. Cosby has denied he assaulted her claiming that sexual contact was consensual. If convicted, he faces up to 10 years in prison.
