Bomb attack kills six people on road leading to Egyptian pyramids

Muslim Brotherhood responsible for Thursday’s explosion near the pyramids in Cairo

The Muslim Brotherhood has claimed responsibility for a bomb attack that killed six people, including three police officers. The attack took place near a road leading to the pyramids, Cairo, in the suburb of Giza.

The explosion took place as police arrived in their vehicles in front of a hide-out that belonged to suspected militants with the intent to raid the building. Thirteen people were wounded in the attack.

Militants in Egypt have stepped up attacks against police and soldiers following the toppling of President Morsi in 2013 and mass protests against his rule.
