Bundesbank chief: ‘Nein’ to ELA increase – Says time running out for Greece

Jens Weidmann rejects the arguments that Greece’s public debt is unmanageable and can not be served, while once again he expresses his strong opposition to extend ELA for Greece

In his interview with the German magazine “Focus”, the chief of Bundesbank Jens Weidmann warned that the Greek government has already lost, to certain extent, lenders’ trust, while he underlined that time is running out to find a solution on the Greek issue.

Moreover, the powerful Bundesbank governor rejected arguments that Greece’s public debt cannot be serviced, while again expressing his opposition to increased ELA liquidity for Greece.
