Corfu will be the home of the first waterway in Greece

Seaplanes will bring new prospects for tourism in the Greek islands.

The inauguration of the first waterway in Greece to accommodate seaplane activity is not a remote prospect anymore. A decision on the opening of such a waterway at the port of Corfu was signed on Saturday by Shipping and Aegean Minister Miltiadis Varvitisiotis and Deputy Infrastructures, Transport and Networks Minister Mihalis Papadopoulos.

The licensing of the first waterway in Greece is an important development that upgrades the transportation infrastructure of the country.

It should also be noted that seaplanes will bring new prospects for tourism in the Greek islands.

Mr. Varvitsiotis made the following statement after the signing: “Today we launch a new means of transport that will contribute in the strengthening of the tourism sector as well as the economic growth of the country. We will sign and license more waterways in the near future and this summer the first hydroplane flights will operate in the country”.
