Creditors submit no new proposal to Greek govt

However, there was no last-ditch effort to sway the SYRIZA govt to reach an agreement on better terms made by creditors

Despite government sources leaking the existence of a new and improved proposal submitted to Greece by international creditors, there was exclusive information that there was no new proposal made to the Greek government.

On the contrary, there was a clear call for Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras to agree to the final proposal submitted by European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker, so that the deadlock between Greece and international creditors could be broken during a new emergency Eurogroup meeting.

Diplomatic sources state that “if Tsipras wants a solution he needs to send a letter to Juncker, Eurogroup Chief Jeroen Dijsselbloem, German Chancellor Angela Merkel and French President Francois Hollande, stating that he accepts the proposal submitted by the three institutions on Sunday and start a campaign in favor of YES.”

Even so, other sources close to creditors point to Juncker as stating that the “door is still open” for Greece.
