“Piou” was selling drugs not cars in Africa

The Cretan father-in law of the Nigerian man arrested by Greek authorities for drug trafficking, Friday at Athens International Airport, has threatened to ‘cut his legs off’ in a phone interview to Proto Thema. Ioannis Papadakis said once the 37-year-old Nigerian Joel Aniino Izona set foot on Crete he would pay for the insult he had brought on his family. Izona had become a sudden TV hit when he landed a role as ‘Piou’ in popular TV commercial. The Nigerian played football in a local team on the island of Crete and lived with his Cretan ex-wife and their two children. “He disgusts me”, said Papadakis. “We helped him and he shamed us”. Papadakis said Izona and his daughter were separated and waiting for the divorce papers to come through. Papadakis clsimed Izona was rarely at home with his two children and told the family that he was on business in Africa selling cars. Izona was arrested after the Nigerian had swallowed 1.285 grams of heroin in small packs.
