Crime writer P.D. James dead at 94 years of age

Tributes have been pouring in since news of the death of the queen of crime fiction became public

British crime fiction writer P.D. James died at the age of 94. Her agent said she died peacefully at her home in Oxford.

She started writing at the age of 42 with many of her books featuring sleuth Adam Dalgliesh.  Some of her most bestselling works are “The Children of Men”, “The Murder Room” and “Death Comes to Pemberley” (a “Pride and Prejudice” spin-off).  She wrote over 20 books many of which were adapted to movies and TV.

P.D. James worked for the government as well as the forensic science department of the Home Office.

British Prime Minister David Cameron wrote on Twitter that he was saddened to hear of the death of an author who had “thrilled and inspired generations of readers.”
