Cristiano Ronaldo accused of rape by American woman

He denies the incident, which happened 9 years ago

Football superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has been accused of rape by a woman from the United States. Kathryn Mayorga, 34, alleges the Portuguese international raped her in Las Vegas in 2009. Later, with Ronaldo later paying her the sum of $375,000 to buy her silence. According to German news magazine, DER SPIEGEL the woman’s lawyer is now disputing the validity of that out-of-court settlement in a civil complaint in Nevada.
Mayorga has now spoken publicly to the German magazine for the first time about her encounter with Ronaldo nine years ago and tells her version of what took place in his hotel suite.
Ronaldo, Mayorga claims, raped her anally. Later, she says he asked her if she was in pain. “By this time, he’s (…) on his knees”, she claimed.
Ronaldo has denied the accusations, claiming the sex was consensual. Mayorga’s lawyer’s claim relies in part on a document, which includes Ronaldo’s description of what happened that night. In that document, the soccer player is quoted as saying: “She said no and stop several times.”
