Did Attica Governor Dourou forget all her statements in support of the fired cleaners?

Speaking to ANT1 on Monday, Ms. Dourou claimed that she never promised to hire the cleaners herself

Not long ago, before getting elected Attica Governor, Ms. Rena Dourou was taking part in protests held by the cleaning women that were fired from the Finance Ministry, expressing her support for their struggle to be reinstated.

However, those days seem now like a distant past, as Ms. Dourou, following her election as Regional Governor for Attica, opted to hire a private cleaning service in Attica instead of offering a job to the fighting cleaning women, as an article published yesterday by PROTO THEMA newspaper revealed.

According to the article, Mrs. Dourou who seems to have forgotten all about her pre-election statements, decided to proceed with the implementation of the program of the previous Regional governor Yiannis Sgouros, who had originally launched the tender for private cleaning services, under the pressure of the government and the troika, that wouldn’t approve the hiring of new cleaners at that point.

Speaking to ANT1 on Monday, Ms. Dourou slammed the newspaper for publishing the story which, according to her, is completely “made-up.”

The regional governor claimed that she never promised to hire the cleaners herself. More specifically, she said that she continues to support the cleaners in their struggle. However, “hiring them in the Attica region would constitute populism” Ms. Dourou added.
