A few weeks ago, a quarterly journal called Middle-East Review of International Affairs, specializing in Middle East issues, had published a report which showed that jihadists of the Islamic State used chemical gas to repel Kurdish Peshmerga fighters.
According to the same report, it is also likely that ISIS men used mustard gas against Kurdish soldiers in Syria.
This report confirms the claims made by BBC reporter Güney Yildiz who, citing reliable sources, said that chemical weapons were used by jihadists at Kobane.
More specifically, the reporter posted on his personal account the following tweet.
“A top Kurdish official from Kobane told me suspected IS chemical attack cause people lose their sight, stop breathing and doze off.”
Yildiz also posted photos showing victims with burns from the alleged chemical attack.
The reporter also noted that, although they don’t have enough equipment to do proper tests, his source told him that it could be a chemical weapon, chlorine gas or phosphorus shells.
