Dijsselbloem: A deal with Greece has to be achieved in 2 weeks

Only payment extension, not debt write-off is possible, he said

Head of the Eurogroup Jeroen Dijsselbloem stated that there were complex issues of a legal nature that needed dealing with, commenting on the implementation of the €3.6bln contingency package Greece would have to adopt in the event it fails to meet fiscal targets. Speaking Thursday on a Dutch radio station, the Eurogroup head underlined that a deal with Greece would have to be reached within the next couple of weeks. ‘We could use this time to examine the prospects of relieving the Greek debt’, said the Dutch politician. He made it clear, however, that a debt write-off could not be pursued, but rather an extension of the interest payments.
