DIMAR party in turmoil over Presidential elections

DIMAR MPs are very disappointed with Kouvelis’ leadership

A great unrest prevails in the ranks of DIMAR (Democratic Left party), because of the attitude of the leadership team and DIMAR president  Fotis Kouvelis, who seems likely to have -according to party members- struck a bargain with SYRIZA to accomodate himself and a small entourage that surrounds him, for the ballots of the next elections.

Executives and DIMAR organizations express serious concern and questions about Mr. Kouvelis’ persistence of negativity to any consensual proposals made by many sides, culminating in the latest call by PM Antonis Samaras towards political forces that align themselves with the country’s European orientation.

In light of the afternoon meeting of the party members, there are more than a few members who are wondering about the concealed aim of DIMAR’s president, when it was revealed that only a few months ago, he was ready to accept a proposal to become the President of the Republic, himself.

The continuous metamorphosis of the DIMAR president blocks all initiatives of consensus as shown through the hesitation that three MPs now show to back their signatures of a plan which was ultimately adopted by PM Samaras. Many in DIMAR’s offices consider the allegations of “political and organizational independence” which are cried out by the party leadership as specious, as rumors abound that DIMAR will be broken up into pieces, and any DIMAR members who pass SYRIZA’s “face control” will be let in their ballots, in order to not adopt the 50 MP bonus which cannot be added to party coalitions. Anything that has come out with the latest Chaikalis video-tap case and the stance that SYRIZA adopted, supporting it outright, is a serious reason for DIMAR to reinvent its attitude. “Can Mr. Kouvelis not see with whom he wants to get in bed with?”, they ask themselves and add “What business do -we- have with any people like Chaikalis and any montage videos?”.
