Extreme anti-authoritarian group bursts into Thessaloniki Church interrupting liturgy

20 people were apprehended

A group of 25 left-wing antiauthoritarian members barged into the Orthodox Church of Gregory Palamas in the Metropolis of Thessaloniki, interrupting the Sunday morning liturgy. The invaders, who confronted the Church goers observing the services at the time, were protesting against the evacuation of the city’s buildings of refugees and solidarity group members. The protesters threw leaflets in the Church before the people in the Church managed to drive them out. Special riot police arrived on the scene a little later and appended 20 people. The Sunday liturgy continued after the incident was over.
