A two-seater F-16 jet which had taken off from the 115 Combat Wing (343M) crashed south of Gavdos, the southernmost Greek island, at 13:45 pm on Thursday.
According to information, the two pilots abandoned the aircraft in time. The F-16 was in a training mission and crashed 22 miles north of Gavdos due to mechanical failure.
The two pilots left the aircraft successfully.
After their fall in the sea the two pilots entered lifeboats and waited for the rescue helicopter.
