The South African recipient of the world’s first penile transplant, now 21 years of age, is to become a father. His girlfriend is four months’ pregnant proving the success of the operation that restored his penis in December following a botched circumcision.
The operation, that used a donated penis, ran for nine hours at Tygerberg Hospital. He had been left with just 1 cm of his original penis as a result of the circumcision.
