French TV5 accidentally reveals sensitive info after hack

French TV offers a gift to hackers… just a day after the first hacking of accounts

While documenting the TV5Monde hack, a French TV station accidentally showed passwords and other personal information while reporting on a cyber-attack that happened a day earlier. Journalist David Delos spoke of his frustration over the cyber attack by what appeared to be pro-Islamic State supporters. His interview, just a day after the hack, was held in front of a wall that had sheets of paper with sensitive information pinned onto it. The notes included logins for Twitter, Instagram and other sites.

PASSWORD

The information was blurry however Twitter users picked up on it. It is believed that lax password security could have contributed to the hack as most password’s were simplistic.
