Golden Dawn Kassidiaris trial adjourned until 2016

On June 7, 2012, Kassidiaris physically assaulted KKE MP Liana Kanelli after a televised brawl.

The court decided on Friday to adjourn the trial of Golden Dawn MP Ilias Kassidiaris for his attack against Greek Communist Party (KKE) MP Liana Kanelli and Attica Governor Rena Dourou in 2012, until March 1, 2016.

The adjournment was requested due to the abstention of lawyers. While he was being transferred to the court from Korydallos Prison, where he is currently in custody in connection with another case about the illegal activities of his party, Kassidiaris put his hands up and showed his handcuffs saying that “one day (Prime Minister) Samaras will be wearing these!”

On June 7, 2012, during a television appearance, Kassidiaris, in response to a verbal disagreement, threw a glass of water at Greek politician Rena Dourou and then he proceeded to physically assault Liana Kanelli after she objected to his behavior.
