Government meetings focused on failed Paris Troika talks

The government is meeting in the aftermath of the Paris talks to see what can be done in the aftermath of the failed negotiations

Prime Minister Antonis Samaras is meeting with Government Vice President and PASOK leader Evangelos Venizelos on Thursday at the Maximos mansion, the official seat of the Prime Minister in Greece. The negotiations with Greece’s international creditors is dominating the talks with the two men discussing the next step for Greece after the two sides failed to reach an agreement.

Negotiations are continuing with the troika of creditors from the European Commission (EC), European Central Bank (ECB) and International Monetary Fund (IMF). Teleconference calls are expected over the coming days.

Greek sources state that the Paris’ meeting was fruitless as the IMF insisted on the level of the fiscal gap. Sources state that the IMF’s stand shows that the IMF will not let Greece leave the bailout program.

The meeting is also being attended by Finance Minister Gikas Hardouvelis, Labor Minister Yiannis Vroutsis, Administration and eGovernance Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and Deputy Finance Minister George Mavraganis.
