Government spokeswoman Sofia Voultepsi told private ANT1 TV on Monday that there is a clear alliance between main opposition SYRIZA and Independent Greeks (ANEL) party to prevent the election of a President of the Republic.

Moreover, Ms. Voultepsi characterized ANEL MP Pavlos Chaikalis’ alleged bribery an “internal affair” of the Independent Greeks party, the member of which were trying to monitor each other.

“This is the third attempt to sabotage the election of President of Republic,” Ms. Voultepsi said and attacked ANEL party, noting that she cannot accept that they did not give the evidence to the prosecution because they were afraid they would leak.

The government spokeswoman said that SYRIZA is obviously involved in the case and referred to a “clear alliance between SYRIZA and ANEL to prevent the election of a president.
