Govt submits omnibus bill with tough reforms to Greek Parliament. What’s next?

Debates and discussions are the order of the day before the Greek lawmakers vote on the bill on Friday

The Greek government submitted the omnibus draft bill with 48 prior actions the country is being called to implement as part of its bailout deal with international creditors (EC, ECB, IMF, ESM). Lawmakers will now need to study the bill presented to them on Monday and vote for it on Friday so that 2-bln euro tranche can be released for Greece.

The Economic, Social and Production and Trade Committees will convene on Tuesday to discuss the bill and are expected to draft their joint report on Wednesday.
On Thursday, the Conference of Parliamentary Presidents will meet to decide the start of the debate in the plenum so that the bill will be discussed on Thursday and throughout Friday before eventually being voted on.

Parliament Speaker Nikos Voutsis stressed that the government had “no pressure from abroad” when drafting the omnibus bill. “We could have debated it for more days. What interests them is to table the bill,” he said.
