The Tae Kwon Do stadium will be emptied today

Migrants and refugees transfered from Idomeni on the Greek border with the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (FYROM) to Athens are being held at the Tae Kwon Do stadium at Paleo Faliro for the 12th day. Initially there were 2,500 refugees registered there, however their number is not more than 1,000 at the moment. Following initial squabbles, the situation is now calm.

On Thursday, the Olympic stadium will be emptied to prepare for the European championships on Saturday.

Protothema.gr sources state that there has not been a great deal of damage caused by the migrant people’s stay at the Tae Kwon Do stadium beyond what one would expect from more than 2,000 people staying there. The sit-in at the facility’s outdoor area is continuing. It is expected that the damage will cost 20,000 euros following the migrant people’s transfer to another area.

The transfer of migrants from the stadium is starting at noon on Wednesday.
