Greek-Aussie girl racially victimized by man on Melbourne train

Racism against Greek on Melbourne train sparks police search

Greek-Australian Arna Dionysopoulos, aged 26, was the victim of a racial attack on a train in Melbourne while on her way home from work on Wednesday afternoon. A man who noticed the IT consultant’s nametag started telling her to “get out of Australia” and said he would love to put a gun to her and her father’s heads and pull the trigger.

The young woman says she considers herself to be Australian. “It’s quite shocking that that’s what some people believe,” she told Melbourne’s newspaper, The Age. “If you live here, you’re Australian.”

She attempted to ignore the man’s comments by reading her book however he continued to hurl abuse. A fellow commuter tried to quieten the man only to be threatened by the claim that he had four knives on him.

The young woman was then forced to disembark ahead of her destination. Thankfully, another commuter tried to protect her as the abuser was following ehr.

The man is believed to be 173cm to 183 cm tall, thin built, unshaven and is now wanted by the Australian police via www.crimestoppersvic.com.au
