Cabinet to decide if law will come to parliament this week

A meeting of the Greek cabinet is meeting under PM Alexis Tsipras is under way at Maximos Hall. The government is expected to reach a decision on the new draft bill on the electoral system. Tsipras revealed his plans during his speech at SYRIZA’s central committee conference, when announced he would push for a law that provided for a vote to 17 year olds, abolishing the 50 seat bonus electoral provision for the first party, and adopting proportional representation. The cabinet will decide whether the draft bill will come to parliament this week.
