The Greek Foreign Ministry issued the following announcement regarding the historic U.S. rapprochement with Cuba:

“We welcome the courageous steps for the historic rapprochement of the United States of America with Cuba. The courageous decisions on both sides will contribute to the elimination of one of the last dividing lines in the world, to the progress and prosperity of the Cuban people, and to the stability of the American continent.

Particularly praiseworthy are the mediating efforts of Pope Francis and the Canadian government, which created the conditions for the success of the diplomatic efforts aimed at ending this historical rivalry and opening a new chapter in the relations between the United States of America and Cuba.”
