Greek ‘neo-Nazi’ party euphoric after being set to come third

Golden Dawn Spokesman Ilias Kasidiaris said that his party will spiral upwards as Greece’s problems

Greece’s fascist Golden Dawn party has come third again despite facing a legal courtcase after being embroiled in the murder of anti-fascist rapper Pavlos Fyssas. The group is currently on trial, and accused of being a criminal organization parading as a political party. Despite accusations, it still managed to win a large percent of votes, despite the fact that a large number of its MPs are still behind bars. In fact, just three days before the elections, GD leader conceded political responsibility in the murder fo the popular rapper.

GD Spokesman Ilias Kasidiaris, released after an 18-month stint in jail, said the exit polls were a reflection of the group’s growing popularity.

“We are third party and will have more than 8%,” he said during an interview with private STAR TV, estimating that the group will increase the 6.9% of votes it gathered in January. “Golden Dawn is a party of governance, of power.”

Kasidiaris estimates that GD’s power can only grow. “The Greek people have not yet experienced the worst effects of the memorandum (bailout) or illegal immigration. When that happens you will see, Golden Dawn will have a radical increase in support.”
