Greek police disband 3 drug trafficking rings in central Greece

116 people face felony charges

Greek narcotics forces have managed to disband 3 notorious drug rings operating in the cities of Larissa and Volos, central Greece. The Greek narcotics unit in conjunction with the Crime Prevention and Repression group arrested two couples in Larissa last week who had stashed 418 grams of heroine in their car. The 4 individuals, two females and two males, were part of a criminal ring collaborating with 2 other groups involved in drug trafficking in the cities of Larissa and Volos. These arrests are the latest in a series of pervious ones of other members of the 3 groups after a series of sting operations conducted by Greek police over the past period. Until now a total of 116 people are facing  a number of felony charges, including establishment and participation in a criminal organisation; violation of drug laws; illegal possession of firearms and violation of immigration laws. Authorities have already confiscated 30,125 Euros, british pounds, as well as quantities of methadone in the possession of group members. The leaders of the rings have also been arrested, with one of them, a 36-year old man in prison allegedly acting as the link between the 3 rings and the heroine suppliers.
