Greek tourism arrivals skyrocketed in 2015 – and there’s more to come!

Greek tourism results for 2015 were unparalleled

Greek Alternate Tourism Minister Elena Kountoura presented the record number of tourist arrivals in Greece for 2015 to the General Secretary of the World Tourism Organization (WTO) Teleb Rifai, during the International Tourism Fair FITUR-2016 in Madrid.

All up, Greece welcomed more than 26 mln tourists in 2015. This resulted in revenues worth 14.5 billion euros, despite the tough economic conditions and international developments in the region.

As part of its goals for 2016, Greece hopes to promote itself as an all-year-round tourist destination and promote alternative forms of tourism as well as open new markets that showcase new Greek destinations.
