Hollywood Special FX: Behind the scenes (photos)

The raw deal without the FX

Those Hollywood blockbusters, either set in ancient times in history or travel centuries into the the future are so realistic and life-like that viewers often wonder how do these studios pull off the visual magic on the sliver screen? The use of Computer Graphics (CG) has become an integral part of the film industry for some time now, and is evolving and being perfected at an exponential pace. CG allows the viewer to immerse themselves in a life-like experience ‘surrounded’ by monsters, cyborgs, on the inhospitable terrain of planet Mars, or thrust back into King Agamemnon’s time sailing across the Aegean in 1,500 BC with Achilles to take Troy! Let’s go behind the creation of some of these scenes and strip them away from the CG effects to see what they really look like.
