ISIS destroys history – Insults humanity itself

Archaeological findings dating back more than a dozen centuries were destroyed by ISIS militants

ISIS doesn’t feel it caused enough damages to ancient sculptures in Northern Iraq. The Jihadists once more attack history itself, by breaking and destroying pieces of art from ancient times in Nimrud, Mosul.

According to Iraqi authorities the archaeological finds near the Tiger river which ISIS has destroyed were dated back to the 13th century BC.

The UN and UNESCO declared that they cannot remain silent and that this is a blatant and willful destruction of civilization.

The two organizations put out a call to all those who live in Iraq and especially the young to “do everything in their power to protect their heritage, to claim it like their own and like humanity’s own”.

According to the BBC, this destruction of archaeological finds resembles the one perpetrated by the Taliban on a Buddha dating back to 6th century BC, in 2001.
