Israel and Hamas agree to permanent ceasefire

A permanent ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, after fifty days of war was jointly decided by Israel and Hamas, according to a senior Palestinian official’s announcement.

Specifically, the senior Hamas official told Associated Press that a prolonged truce has been reached with Israel, while an official announcement is expected from Egypt.

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas is expected to announce the details of said deal which mainly provides for “the lifting of the Gaza Strip blockade” which was imposed by Israel in 2006 and is one of the key demands of Palestinians.

The news was confirmed after Israel bombed two high-rise buildings on Tuesday.

Hamas: :”The Resistance is victorious”.

“An agreement was reached between the two sides and we expect the announcement from Cairo to determine the time of implementation of the ceasefire”, said Hamas member Sami Aabu Zouchri.

The second in command of Hamas who participated in the Cairo negotiations said that the agreement is a “victory for the resistance” and added that the start time of the ceasefire will be determined later.

However, a spokesman for Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyajh refused to comment.
