Renzi proposes new Marshall Plan for Greece, as some EZ leaders losing patience

Massive funding could also trickle down … Rome’s way

Italian PM Matteo Renzi has proposed a new Marshall plan for Greece, with his idea back by the Italian President, Sergio Mattarella, and former Commission president Romano Prodi.
Renzi is expected to table his plan to the EU’s socialists group (PES), according to Italian daily Il Messagero.
The newspaper says Renzi is reportedly going to support a request by the Greek PM, Alexis Tsipras, for less austerity.
According to Il Messagero, Renzi wants to play the role of mediator between Athens’ radical leftists and other EU partners, as they both sides seem entrenched in their positions.
Only one question remains, though, who’ll pay for this Marshall Plan, as the paymasters of the previous one are also financing a massive state debt at present.
Nevertheless, other Eurozone was less supportive on Tuesday, after the Greek side failed to present a written set of proposals, but instead said it would do so a day later.
“You know, there was a promise for today. Then, they’re promising for tomorrow,” Lithuanian President Dalia Grybauskaite said, adding: “For the Greek government it’s every time ‘manana’,” she said, using the Spanish word for tomorrow.
For Dutch PM Mark Rutte, Tuesday’s summit was lacking.
“I’m extremely somber about this summit. I’m also somber about the question of whether Greece really wants to come up with proposals, with a solution.”
Belgian PM Charles Michel had this to say on Tuesday: ““If there’s nothing on the table and there continues to be nothing on the table, that means Tsipras is not able to honor the demand of the Greek people to stay in the euro zone.”
