Kyriakos Mitsotakis proceeds to party’s renewal: Convention to be held on Febr. 26-28

He will have a series of meetings with the former leaders of the party as well as with Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras, according to information

Newly elected president of New Democracy Kyriakos Mitsotakis wants to prepare New Democracy within next 111 days to be ready to win the next elections. This, however, does not mean that he wants to overthrow SYRIZA’s government earlier than its four-year term. “He has seen the fate of those who were in hurry, the only problem is that Greece cannot wait any more” an associate of Mr. Mitsotakis told protothema.gr.

During the hand-over ceremony at the party offices, Mr. Mitsotakis  sent a message of renewal saying ““We will renew New Democracy with respect to its history and based on the present needs. It is our duty New Democracy to become the great centre-right party and to close the circle of populism. No one is redundant, but the party needs opening”.

According to sources, the new leader of New Democracy will have a series of meetings with the former leaders of the party, Konstantinos Mitsotakis, Kostas Karamanlis and Antonis Samaras, as well as with Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras.

Also, Mr. Mitsotakis aims to hold New Democracy’s political council convention earlier than it was expected. According to information, the convention will most likely take place on February 26-28.
