Wall St. to the rescue? Lazard appointed adviser to FinMin Varoufakis

Only yesterday, member of Lazard stated that there should be at least a 50% “haircut”

New Greek FinMin Yanis Varoufakis has appointed NYC-based financial consultant and international banking house-cum asset manager Lazard as a ministry adviser on the Greek debt mega-issue.

The surprise move comes a day after the flamboyant Greek minister chalked up even more international media attention during an awkward press conference with visiting Eurogroup head Jeroen Dijssenbloem and in the wake of a barrage of promises – some conflicting – by a bevy of new radical leftist ministers.

As the previously globe-trotting economist hosted the Dutch minister on Friday, one Lazard official on Friday advised for a Greek ‘haircut’ of 50 percent.

Lazard was also offering its counsel during the painful of PSI ‘haircut’ of Greek sovereign bonds.
