Big ongoing investigation for locating and the rescue of five illegal immigrants missing in the sea area south of the island.

From so far unclear cause the boat carrying 20 migrants sank at dawn on the sea area south of the island. Fifteen people were rescued and five are still missing, including a minor girl.

Originally four illegal immigrants were identified by a cargo boat in the sea area and informed the Search and Rescue Center (ESKED) of the Ministry of Marine and Aegean, which in cooperation with the local port authorities collected another 11.

The ongoing search operation for the five missing immigrants is supported by port authority boat, sail boats, super puma helicopter and navy ship.
