London bridge evacuated due to suspicious vehicle

Bomb disposal unit deployed to area

London Bridge has been placed on lockdown by police after reports of a suspicious vehicle this afternoon.
The Metropolitan police were called at 1.40pm and a spokesperson for the service said inquiries were ongoing.
London Bridge train station has been evacuated and closed as a precaution, the spokesperson added.
National Rail warned that train services running to and from London Bridge may be cancelled, delayed or revised, with disruption expected until 4pm. The rail service said: “Metropolitan Police have requested that NO trains run through London Bridge until further notice, because of a security alert nearby.
“The police have requested an exclusion zone through the area, so no trains will run towards London Cannon Street or London Charing Cross until such a time we are told it is safe to do so.

“Southeastern will be diverting trains to London Blackfriars and London Victoria where they can, but some trains will need to be terminated before reaching London.”
Southeastern rail said there would be no service through London Bridge until further notice because of the incident.
