Deputy speaker of the House of Lords, John Sewel, has resigned from his position after the publication of photos and a video allegedly showing him enjoying cocaine in the company of prostitutes appeared in the British tabloid, Sun. As deputy speaker, one of Sewel’s roles was to enforce standards.

His behavior was described by Lords Speaker Baroness D’Souza on Sunday as “shocking and unacceptable.”

Though he stepped down from his position in Britain’s upper house, he is still a member of the House of Lords.
