Malaysia Airlines MH370 flight disappearance officially declared an accident

No trace of the aircraft has been found since it disappeared on 8 March 2014.

The disappearance of Malaysian Airline flight MH370 was officially declared an accident on Thursday by the Malaysian government.

More specifically, according to a statement released by Malaysia’s Department of Civil Aviation, all 239 people onboard are now presumed dead, although the underwater search for the wreckage will continue.

No trace of the aircraft has been found since it disappeared on 8 March 2014.

According to Azharuddin Abdul Rahman, Director of Malaysia’s Department of Civil Aviation, the declaration on Thursday although “difficult for the families” would enable them to begin the process of claiming compensation.
