Tsipras motto during upcoming Euro tour: We'll stay true to pledges

‘My predecessors chose to say one thing before the elections and do something else after’

The new Greek government’s “rally cry” more-or-less emerged on Saturday via PM Alexis Tsipras’ leaked comments to his top economic team, all ahead of the latter’ “away visits” to European capitals and expected full-blown pressure.

“My predecessors chose to say one thing before the elections and do something else after. They lost the support of the people and are history. I think i will stay original and be true to my commitments,” was the comment attributed to Tsipras.

Paris and Brussels are on Tsipras’ itinerary for next week.

Tsipras called and chaired the three-hour-long meeting on Saturday, which included Deputy PM Yannis Dragasakis, FinMin Yanis Varoufakis and other top economic policy-makers.

The new Greek government has repeated that it wants a conference to ease the Greek debt, that it will not extend a bailout scheme and that it will negotiate with the so-called “troika”, but only with the IMF, ECB and EC leaders. On Saturday, government sources said this strategy will continue “to the end”.
