Mitarakis meets with the vice president of the World Bank

Special emphasis was given on boosting growth and reducing unemployment, especially among the young people

According to a ministry announcement, Deputy Development and Competitiveness Minister Notis Mitarakis, while representing Greece in the annual spring meeting of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank in Washington, met with the vice president of the World Bank (Europe) Laura Tuck. The two officials discussed the progress and prospects of the programmes implemented by the World Bank in Greece.

Special emphasis was given on boosting growth and reducing unemployment, especially among the young people, enhancing reforms aimed at improving the ranking of Greece in the annual report «Doing Business» of the World Bank, looking into ways to support small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) and encouraging research and innovation.

Mitarakis also met with the vice president of Europe, Central Asia, Middle East and North Africa of the IFC (Investment subsidiary of the World Bank) Dimitris Tsitsiragos. The two men discussed the possibility of investments in Greek companies with international activity, as well as providing technical assistance on issues of Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs).
