Mitsotakis: Tsipras cannot walk on the street because he has lied to Greeks

The government is condemning the country to a perpetual memorandum

The leader of main opposition party New Democracy, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, reiterated his party’s demand for election to remove the “incompetent and dangerous government”, while he blamed the European Union for the policy mix that is included in the agreement stressing that EU also shares responsibility for not keeping their promise on Greek debt.

“Mr. Tsipras cannot walk on the street, because he has told so many lies to citizens, he was consciously taking the country to the brink of disaster, he was deceiving society and he continues to deceiving it,” Mr. Mitsotakis said on Wednesday during an interview with public broadcaster ERT.

The pledge, on Greece’s side, to maintain primary surpluses of 3.5 pct for the next 15 years, which are not achievable, are condemning the country to a perpetual memorandum, he added stressing that the talks on Greece’s debt are a positive step but it is not new, as it existed since 2012.

But, “the price the country will have to pay is heavy and the government hasn’t secured any specific commitment”, Mr. Mitsotakis stated.
