Morgan Stanley banker penning play on … Papandreou in Cannes!

The play focuses on the disastrous last talks between Papandreou, Sarkozy and Angela Merkel in the French resort

Morgan Stanley banker Bernard Mourad is writing a theatrical script based on the tense period of George Papandreou’s last days as Greek prime minister in October 2011. According to the Paris daily Liberation, the Lebanese-born Mourad has the script ready and is collaborating with Mag & News Co to get it on stage.

The play focuses on the behind-the-scenes dialogue between the one-time Greek prime minister with then French President Nicolas Sarkozy and German Chancellor Angela Merkel in Cannes. It was in the wake of that disastrous meeting that Papandreou returned demoralized to Athens; proposed a vague referendum; encountered a catastrophic political “blow back” and then just resigned.
