National Archive of Monuments Directorate to organize exhibition and conference

The opening of the exhibition will take place on Wednesday at 19:00 at the Archive building

The culture ministry’s Directorate of the National Archive of Monuments is to organize an exhibition and conference focusing on the history of archaeology and the Archaeological Service in Greece in the 19th century.

The exhibition will present for the first time material held in the Archive, which is a valuable source of information on archaeological and historical research.

The opening of the exhibition will take place on Wednesday at 19:00 at the Archive building, located on Psarmiligou 22, Keramikos as part of a three-day conference on “Archaeology in Greece in the 19th century as presented in the sources of the Archaeological Service Archive” which will run until October 24.

The Directorate of the National Archive of Monuments is a division of the General Directorate of Antiquities and Cultural Heritage of the Hellenic Ministry of Culture and Sports. With deep respect for the past and looking forward to the future, the Directorate has undertaken the electronic recording, documentation and management of archives related to the Greek cultural heritage in order to ensure its preservation under optimal conditions and promote its effective and creative utilization.
